Letter from the Director
of ECTC on Drugs & Alcohol:
Drugs and alcohol come in many
different forms and can initiate a variety of
symptoms and effects on the body. In general,
people who begin to experiment with drugs and
alcohol usually start with the ‘softer’
drugs such as alcohol and marijuana. The effects
of alcohol and marijuana include feelings of
euphoria, loss of reasoning and a feeling of
indestructibility. Long-term symptoms of alcohol
abuse include consistent blackouts (memory loss
while drunk), loss of control, inappropriate,
violent and unhealthy behaviors, etc. Click

Letter from the Director
of ECTC on Getting Help:
Once the cycle of addition has
gone too far and the only positive course of
action is treatment, here are a few good measures
in substance abuse recovery: If a person is
unwilling to seek help for themselves, hiring
an intervention specialist to break through
denial is a smart idea. During the intervention
process, family and friends work together with
the interventionist to confront a destructive
drug addict or alcoholic. Through this process,
the substance abuser is most often able to accept
that there is a problem and get help. Click
